The Beveridge Evaluation Center specializes in comprehensive assessments of deaf and language-delayed students.  Students are evaluated by trained and certified professionals in the student’s preferred communication mode (oral or total communication).  Results of evaluations provide the basis for a comprehensive individualized educational plan.

Referrals may be for any or all of the evaluations offered by the center.  Assessment instruments are normed appropriately for the population.  Students with normal hearing may be referred for various evaluations, such as the Central Auditory Processing Assessment.

The Evaluation Center provides a range of assessments, depending on the age and current level of the student.  The evaluations are comprised of four major areas:

1.  A comprehensive educational assessment using tests designed for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

2.  A complete audiological assessment including pure tone testing, impedance assessment, hearing aid and/or FM auditory trainer analysis.  Central Auditory Processing Assessment (CAP testing) for students whose hearing is within normal limits.

3.  An assessment of speech and language competence, using assessments for use with deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

4. A comprehensive psychological evaluation conducted by a licensed psychologist, fluent in sign language and experienced in working with deaf children.

Consultation meetings and discussions are held in order to ensure that the evaluations answer specific referral questions, leading to the provision of detailed strategies.
