At
the Willie Ross School for the Deaf
Campuses, there is an emphasis on extended day and
after-school programs, which are integral to the school’s
focus on independence and individual growth.
The School’s after-school program meets the needs of
deaf students to socialize with each other and to
explore the environment of their communities. With every
event, the students have access through the Willie Ross
staff.
SPECIAL EVENT FOR STUDENTS AT THE
LONGMEADOW
CAMPUS
Members of the South Windsor Kennel Club Present
Program

On Friday, May 30, 2008, a
presentation for the students at the Longmeadow Campus of Willie Ross School
highlighted a safety and agility program by a number of dog breeds from the
South Windsor Kennel Club of connecticut. The agility program focused both
on dogs doing jumps, weaving in and out, going through a tunnel, and the
activities of a "frisbee" dog. Tina Toohey, a Trustee of the Willie Ross School and a member of the American Kennel
Club, organized this program together with her kennel club as a special event
for students. The school has been celebrating its 40th anniversary during this
school year, and this event was planned especially for students during this
anniversary year.

During the winter season, the
basketball team and the cheerleading squad
provide an exciting focus for all students in
the school. The Recreation Club is an
opportunity for students to enjoy being with their
school peers on weekends throughout the school
year.
A school
newspaper, developed by students at the Longmeadow Campus,
is a means for students to exchange news and
information with students on both
campuses.
